This one-off project involved members of Seattle, USA-based bands Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden, and was recorded as a tribute to the late Andrew Wood, former Mother Love Bone vocalist. The ‘band’ comprised Chris Cornell (vocals), Matt Cameron (drums), Mike McCready (guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass). Signed to A&M Records, the album received widespread critical acclaim immediately following its release. The music fused the Doors / Joy Division / Stooges fixation of Mother Love Bone with the harder, dirtier and at times funkier rhythms of Soundgarden. It was a moving, powerful and genuine tribute to the first casualty of the 90s Seattle scene. Gossard and Ament later formed Pearl Jam. In October 2003, the band members reunited onstage at a benefit concert in Santa Barbara, California.
