b. 13 September 1944, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Peter Cetera was the last musician to join the original line-up of Chicago, and he remained with that highly successful outfit through its first 17 albums as lead singer and bass player. In 1981, Cetera recorded a self-titled solo album on Full Moon Records, which only reached number 143 on the US album chart. He left the group in 1985 to pursue a solo career and achieved immediate success with the single ‘Glory Of Love’, the theme from the movie The Karate Kid Part II, which reached US number 1 and UK number 3 in the summer of 1986. The second solo album, Solitude/Solitaire, reached number 23. In September of that year, Cetera recorded a duet with pop-gospel singer Amy Grant, ‘The Next Time I Fall’, which also reached US number 1. In 1987, he worked with former Abba member Agnetha Fältskog on her WEA Records debut, duetting on the minor US hit single ‘I Wasn’t The One (Who Said Goodbye)’. Cetera’s third solo album, One More Story, was released in 1988 and included the US Top 5 single, ‘One Good Woman’. In 1989, ‘After All’, a duet with Cher from the Cybil Shepherd/Robert Downey Jnr. movie Chances Are, returned Cetera to the US Top 10. World Falling Down was released in 1992, following which Cetera moved to the independent River North label. You’re The Inspiration: A Collection featured re-recordings of old songs alongside some new material.
