Meiko

Though singer-songwriter Meiko is often held up as an example of the manner in which Internet-based music outlets like iTunes and MySpace are revolutionizing the music industry, her career began relatively conventionally, with a series of well-received gigs at Los Angeles venues like the Hotel Café and radio exposure on KCRW’s venerable show the Morning Becomes Eclectic. Her self-titled debut was released in 2007 and became a surprise favorite on iTunes. It was eventually re-released on MySpace records in 2008 sporting one new track, the wry, Beatles-influenced “Girls With Boyfriends.”
