One of the fixtures of the jam band scene, moe. first formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1990. Despite several line-up changes, moe. gradually amassed a devoted following with their brand of freewheeling, improvisational rock, which emphasized Americana, psychedelia, and musical chops. The group’s debut, FATBOY, was released in ’92 on the band’s own Fat Boy label, and was followed by HEADSEED in ’93. More line-up changes followed, and the band’s sound continued to evolve and expand. Highly prolific and committed to experiment, moe.’s adventures in sound are captured on a long string on live sets (the double-disc L, the WARTS AND ALL series) and studio efforts (‘97’s TIN CANS AND CAR TIRES, 08’s STICKS AND STONES). The band is a staple of major national festivals (such as Bonneroo), and they also host their own annual concert events in upstate New York: the moe.down and the snoe.down.
