Singer Natalia Jiminez and guitarist Angel Reyero formed the band La Quinta Estacion in the late 1990s in Madrid and relocated to Mexico City when their single “Donde Iran” became the theme for a Mexican telenovela. While their songs betray flashes of the indigenous music of both home countries, La 5a Estacion’s sound is firmly based in the fulsome sort of hook-heavy American pop prevalent in the excessive ‘80s.
