After cutting his teeth for several years on the San Francisco scene, singer/songwriter John Vesely (Secondhand Serenade) released his 2005 debut, AWAKE, via the Internet. A talented singer with a penchant for self-consciously earnest emo power ballads, Vesely soon amassed enough buzz to merit signing by Warner Bros.'s second-generation offshoot, Glassnote Records. AWAKE was ressiued in 2007 and proved to be a competent exercise in scaled-down, straight-faced emo pop. On 2008's A TWIST IN MY SKY, Vesely remerged with a bigger, glossier sound as well as full-band reworkings of two standouts from the debut: "Maybe" and "Your Call."
