Formed in Chicago, Illinois, USA, the Ides Of March (originally the I’des Of March) began life as Anglophiles, but quickly adopted prevailing American influences to create a series of excellent pop singles. Success eluded the band until 1970 when a brass-laden single, ‘Vehicle’, became an international hit (US number 2) in the wake of Chicago and Blood, Sweat And Tears. Despite further releases, the Ides Of March - Jim Peterik (vocals), Ray Herr (guitar), John Larson (trumpet), Larry Millas (guitar, flute), Bob Bergland (bass), Mike Borch (drums, vibes) and Chuck Soumar (percussion) - were unable to sustain their brief spell in the spotlight. Peterik worked as a session musician and released a solo album, before enjoying multi-platinum success with Survivor.
