b. Michele’le (pronounced Me-Shell-Lay) Toussant, Los Angeles, California, USA. One time girlfriend and protégée of Dr. Dre, Michel’le’s career exploded and then disappeared with equal velocity, after she retired to have a baby. She first came to prominence as a backing vocalist for Dre’s World Class Wreckin’ Cru, before guesting on the D.O.C.’s remarkable debut album. Her own 1990 set brought immediate platinum status, preceded as it was by the US Top 10 single, ‘No More Lies’. She also appeared on the pro-awareness single ‘We’re All In The Same Gang’ alongside other members of the N.W.A. posse with M.C. Hammer, Tone-Loc, Digital Underground and Young MC. By the time her second album finally appeared in 1998, over eight years after the release of her debut, interest in the singer had largely disappeared.
