Alternative metal outfit Black Stone Cherry hails from Kentucky. Formed by singer/guitarist Chris Robertson and drummer John Fred Young when the two were still in high school, the band had its official beginning in 2001 with the addition of bassist John Lawhon and guitarist Ben Wells. Their self-titled debut was released in 2006, and announced the band’s hard-hitting mix of post-grunge, Southern rock, and traditional heavy metal. The intense live shows helped earn them a steady following as they wrote and recorded their sophomore album FOLKLORE AND SUPERSTITION, which appeared in 2008.
