This US alternative rock band were formed in 2005 by Gabe Saporta (b. Gabriel Eduardo Saporta, 11 October 1979, Montevideo, Uruguay; vocals/bass) following the dissolution of his former band, Midtown. Ryland Blackington (guitar), Alex Suarez (bass), Nate Novarro (drums) and Elisa Schwartz (keytar) joined him in his new project. After signing a contract with the Fueled By Ramen subsidiary Decaydance, the band’s debut single, ‘Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)’, was released in summer 2006. The catchy and fun track enjoyed a surge in popularity following the release of the cod-horror movie of the same name. The band’s debut album, released later in the year, was a fairly average punk pop collection, with the majority of the tracks adopting a more serious tone than the hit single. Victoria Asher replaced Schwartz in early 2007.
