Chicago R&B singer Jeremih specializes in smooth, urban contemporary loverman R&B, as epitomized by his 2009 hit single, “Birthday Sex.” A self-taught musician, Jeremih spent his teenage years learning several instruments and developing his voice. A meeting with producer Mick Schultz proved lucky, as the two began working together on Jeremih’s material, leading eventually to a deal with Def Jam. “Birthday Sex,” a provocative bedroom slow jam, was released in early ’09 in anticipation of Jeremih’s full-length debut.
